Dive
Komodo is headed by Mark Heighes. An experienced
skipper and international dive travel guide. He
first visited Komodo in 1981 and has dived it
every year since. Born and raised in Sydney, with
PADI AI, commercial diving and Australian Masters
class 3 Skippers qualifications.
After spending 4 years
as assistant camera-man to Australia's Ron and Valerie
Taylor, Mark became involved with the planning and
organisation of Great White Shark expeditions to
South Australia and South Africa. He then went on
to spend 10 years exploring the world's tropical
seas as divemaster and lecturer aboard the world's
first expedition travel vessels. Examples are the
Linblad Explorer, Polaris, and Shikorsky. He has
operated live-aboard dive vessels in Australia,
PNG and now Indonesia.
Since 1998 Mark has been living
in Labuan Bajo running liveaboard cruises in Komodo
National Park and eastern indonesia. He has also
been working for the park authorities as a consultant
for their marine operations and running our liveaboard
cruises in an area he believes to be the worlds
most challenging and exciting dive destination

The Crew... The permanent crew for the now numbers 12. Yes many changes have occured since this photo was taken - but they are proving to be camera shy. In addition we have 2 permanent staff in Labuan Bajo , and 5 staff in our Bali Office.
